What We Do

We aim to help achieve universal access to effective, sustainable and equitable sanitation and hygiene, by generating new findings and synthesis of existing knowledge on sanitation and hygiene to improve policy and practice.

The core facets of our work are:

  1. RESEARCH – we conduct research across a range of sanitation and hygiene-related themes to address national sector needs in the countries which we work.
  2. CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT – we create varied opportunities for the development of young investigators, work with national universities to train future researchers, and help strengthen national sector programmes.
  3. RESEARCH INTO USE – we effectively communicate our research to key audiences, in a useful and accessible way, to contribute to better performance and accelerated progress.

To date, SHARE has worked in two regions with historically low levels of sanitation access: sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

BUILDING KNOWLEDGE. IMPROVING THE WASH SECTOR.

SHARE contributes to achieving universal access to effective, sustainable and equitable sanitation and hygiene by generating evidence to improve policy and practice worldwide.
