About

Tanzania is one of the largest countries in sub-Saharan Africa and is home to more than 52 million people. Only 16% of Tanzanians have access to improved sanitation, and 12% still practice open defecation (WHO/UNICEF 2015).

SHARE worked in Tanzania since its inception in 2010 on a range of projects including: urban sanitation, sanitation microfinance, WASH and maternal health, and WASH and nutrition. We also played a leading role in the evaluation of the first Tanzanian National Sanitation Campaign.

BUILDING KNOWLEDGE. IMPROVING THE WASH SECTOR.

SHARE contributes to achieving universal access to effective, sustainable and equitable sanitation and hygiene by generating evidence to improve policy and practice worldwide.
