About
Kenya is among the top ten richest countries in Africa (IMF, 2015), but just under a third of its population has access to improved sanitation and 12% still defecate in the open (WHO/UNICEF, 2015).
SHARE's work in Kenya focussed primarily on informal settlements in Kisumu, western Kenya. Building on a project looking at urban WASH disparities from Phase I, our partners, GLUK, led the Safe Start project - designing, implementing and evaluating the impact of an intervention to explore WASH and food hygiene in low-income settlements.
