Safe Child Stool Disposal

WaterAid/Layton Thompson

About

To date, the WASH sector has greatly overlooked the enormous potential of hygienic child stool disposal to considerably reduce the prevalence of diarrhoeal diseases. Young children are concurrently more susceptible to faecal-oral disease transmission and an important source of infection because their faeces contain high levels of pathogens

To better understand the risk related to inappropriate child faeces disposal, SHARE funded a review of the available evidence for the effect of child faeces disposal interventions on diarrhoea, through the analysis of existing data from eight South-Asian countries.

BUILDING KNOWLEDGE. IMPROVING THE WASH SECTOR.

SHARE contributes to achieving universal access to effective, sustainable and equitable sanitation and hygiene by generating evidence to improve policy and practice worldwide.
