A Systematic Review of the Health and Social Effects of Menstrual Hygiene Management

This paper by Sumpter and Torondel (2013) oublished in PLOS ONE documents the findings of a systematic review which collated, summarised and critically appraised the evidence on the health and psycho-social outcomes of MHM (approaches) in lower income settings. It found that the management of menstruation presents significant challenges for women in these settings and a plausible health effect from poor MHM despite limited evidence.
