WASH in Tanzanian Birth Settings

WaterAid/Tara Todras-Whitehill

About

The third in a series of five SHARE-funded studies, this LSHTM-led case study used existing data sources – the Tanzania 2010 Demographic Health Survey and the 2006 Service Provision Assessment – to assess WASH coverage in home and facility birth settings in Tanzania.

It found that less than one-third of all births in Tanzania took place in a water and sanitation-safe environment (Benova et al., 2014).

BUILDING KNOWLEDGE. IMPROVING THE WASH SECTOR.

SHARE contributes to achieving universal access to effective, sustainable and equitable sanitation and hygiene by generating evidence to improve policy and practice worldwide.
